“Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’” (John 14:6, NLT)

Life is like the first stage of a trip and, in this stage, we have to choose our destination for the remainder of our trip. Can you imagine planning a vacation, but not having any idea where you wanted to go? Or imagine having a destination, but not having directions to get there? Jesus told us that we have two destinations to choose from after this life. We can either go to heaven to be with Him or we can go to hell. Hell is an awful place and no one would choose to go there, but too many people end up there because they don’t make plans to go to heaven. If we go through life with no plan to get to heaven, we automatically will end up in hell because, in order to get to heaven, we need to get on the right path now.

So, how do we get on the path to heaven? You must first know Jesus—only those with a relationship with Him can go there. It’s His home and He wants all of His friends to be there. If we choose to travel the path to hell, we will never make it to heaven. This makes God sad, but He lets us make the choice. A relationship with Him is something we must choose now, so that we can arrive at heaven where we will live forever with God.

Think about it...
• There are two paths that we can take in life. Where does the broad path lead?
• The narrow path is the one that will take us to heaven. How do we get on that path?
• Jesus told us that He was the way to heaven. Why do we need Jesus to get to heaven?
• Hell is a real place that was not made for people. Why did God make hell?

Prayer: Thank you, God, that you give us all the choice to live with you forever in heaven. The Bible tells us that heaven is an amazing place. Thank you, Jesus, that you made it possible for your friends to live with you. Help me to always be your good friend!
