After Paul had been in Corinth for 1.5 years, he travelled to Ephesus and took along his friends Priscilla & Aquila. When Paul decided to continue on, Priscilla and Aquila stayed in Ephesus where they met a man by the name of Apollos. He was a very good teacher, but they noticed something. He knew what John the Baptist had taught, but he was unaware of who Jesus was!

Priscilla and Aquila took him aside and spent time with him helping him to understand everything they knew about Jesus. Because Apollos recognized that they knew things he didn’t, he was willing to learn from them and he became an even better teacher. He then travelled to Achaia and was able to convince many that Jesus had been God’s promised Rescuer.

Family goal:
• Is there something that each member of your family is really good at that they can teach the other members of your family?
______________________________
[Be sure to pick a measurable goal involving a task so that children will know when they have completed it.]

Weekly verse:
Hebrews 10:24-25, NLT – “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of Jesus’ return is drawing near.”

Family activities:
• Colour the picture of Apollos teaching.
• Can you make it through the maze to find Jesus’ cross?
• How much do you know about Jesus? See how many things you can identify. Ask others if they can add to your list.

Prayer:
Thank you, God, for Apollos’ example. He was a very smart man, but he wasn’t too proud to let others teach him something new. Help me to stay teachable too.
